Lillian Tuulikki Baer, age 94, lifetime area resident, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Good Samaritan Society-Bethany. Lillian was born the oldest of nine children on Dec. 16, 1914, in Brainerd to William and Hilma (Hemming) Juntunen. She graduated from Washington High School in 1934. In 1934-35 she attended one year of normal training and in September of 1935 started teaching grades 1-8 in Wolf Lake, Minn. In September 1936 she taught for one year in Snellman, Minn. Lillian married George Baer on Aug. 25, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Baer, of Minneapolis; three sisters, Dorian Juntunen , of Melbourne, Fla., Gloria Davis, of Carson City, Nev., and Darlene Carlson, of Ojai, Calif.; one brother, Leonard Juntunen, of Merrifield.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Baer in 1985; her parents; three sisters, Daisy Juntunen, Gem Hendrickson and Nathalie Harris; and one brother, Wallace Juntunen.
Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with the Rev. Mark Kleckner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and will continue the hour before services at the church on Friday.
