NISSWA - Oktoberfest is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Nisswa American Legion.
The event includes Adam and the Jolly Jammers, Hans the Accordion Man, family fun, German food and a bazaar and bake sale.
Tinsel and Lace Showcase and Artisan Boutique set Nov. 21
WALKER - The eighth annual Tinsel and Lace Showcase and Artisan Boutique is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School Commons.
Tinsel and Lace is sponsored by Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Community Education and is free. Concessions of assorted food items will be prepared by the ladies from White Oak Bible Chapel.
Vendors display their works and products in a festive atmosphere, each in a booth space, throughout the school commons and gymnasium areas. There is still booth space for crafters, artists and home-based businesses, but it is limited. For home-based businesses, to avoid duplication, booths are reserved on a first-come basis.
The early deadline to reserve a space is Oct. 30. Registrations after Oct. 30 will be required to pay a late fee. Interested parties should contact Community Education at (218) 547-4360 for further information and an exhibitor's application. Payment must accompany registration to guarantee a booth.
State 4-H dog show results
Eight Crow Wing County 4-H'ers attended the State 4-H Dog Show at the state fairgrounds in St. Paul.

Beaded snowflake class offered in Staples
STAPLES - A beaded snowflake class is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Living Legacy Gardens classroom in Staples.
Participants may create beaded snowflakes for use as tree/wreath or package decorations or for gifts and will leave the class with three beaded snowflakes.
Diane Gjerstad from Eagle Bend is the instructor. A $25 fee covers all supplies. Class size is limited so call early to register at (218) 894-5161.
This workshop is made available through the cooperative efforts of Living Legacy Gardens at Central Lakes College-Staples and Staples Motley Community Education.
The classroom is located at the Central Lakes Ag Center office building, one-half mile west of Central Lakes College in Staples.
