Harvest festival slated at Hillman church

HILLMAN -- Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a harvest festival with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Dennis Peterson, illusionist, will present a program at 7:30 p.m. Following his program, he will do balloon sculptures for children.

Immanuel is five miles north of Hillman on County Road 8, then 1 mile west at the junction of Highway 27 and County Road 47.

Rummage sale scheduled at First Lutheran Church

First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. All proceeds will go toward the San Antonio youth mission trip.

Aitkin Area Christian Women's Club to meet

AITKIN -- The Aitkin Area Christian Women's Club will have a continental breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the American Legion Club.

Featured will be crafts, bake and treasure sale with music by Elaine Palthe, Aitkin. Mary Lou Farquharson, Minnetonka, will speak on turning problems into possibilities.

Church to host geologist, Christian scientist

Russ Hanson, geologist and Christian scientist, will discuss a variety of topics at the Brainerd Nazarene Church, 16549 Johnson Road N., off of Highway 371 North.

Creation 101 will be 7 p.m. Oct. 20; Incredible Creatures will be 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 for children ages 5-11; Noah's Flood: Fact or Fairy Tale? will be 7 p.m. Oct. 21; More Incredible Creatures will be 4:30 p.m. Oct. 22 for children ages 5-11, and Facts about Fossils will be 7 p.m. Oct. 22; and Dinosaurs will be 9:30 a.m. Oct. 23, with Man's Beginning: Adam or Apeman? at 11 a.m. Oct. 23.

2005 Steward Celebration slated

Brainerd Area Catholic Churches will sponsor the 2005 Stewardship Celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday at Brainerd High School. There will be Mass with Bishop Dennis Schnurr followed by a free lunch catered by Timbermist. Each parish ministry will have a booth providing information on ways to get involved at church.

This will be the only Sunday morning Mass for the parishes. Saturday and Sunday evening Mass will take place. Nursery will be provided during Mass.

Annual fall bazaar to be held

GARRISON -- Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church will have its annual fall bazaar from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 22.

There will be a lefse demonstration. Lunch will be served. Handmade crafts, home baked pies, cakes, cookies, homemade candy and canned goods will be available.

Bazaar slated at Cascade Methodist Church

DEERWOOD -- Cascade United Methodist Church between Deerwood and Crosby on Highway 210 will hold its annual bazaar and bake sale from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

There will be crafts, handmade rag rugs, baked goods, jam, jelly, brooms, plants and more for sale.

Lunch, which includes creamed chicken over a baking powder biscuit, dessert and beverage, will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost: $4 for adults; $1.50 for children. Refreshments will be available.

Swedish meatball supper slated

Park United Methodist Church, 315 N. Sixth St., Brainerd, will hold its annual Swedish meatball supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Oct. 24.

The supper will feature a menu of all-you-can-eat Swedish meatballs and all the trimmings of real mashed potatoes. Tickets will be available at the door for $7.50, adults; and $4, children ages 5-11. The supper is an all-church event. The building is handicapped accessible. To-go dinners will be available.

United Methodist Women will hold a bake sale at the same time.

Worldwide premier slated at Riverside church

The worldwide premier of part three of the Left Behind series, "World at War," will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22 at Riverside Union Church, 8.5 miles south of the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds on County Road 45.

Deerwood church selling pumpkins as fund-raiser

DEERWOOD -- Salem Lutheran Church of Deerwood will sponsor the Pumpkin Patch, a fund-raising event for the Youth Ministry program, Friday through Halloween featuring pumpkins of all sizes, gourds, ornamental corn and assorted specialty and fall decorating items for sale.
