Despite a lengthy and often stormy debate, the Brainerd City Council unanimously approved $5,000 of city funds for use in the Community Action council budget for 1974.

The Third War Loan Campaign drew to a close today with Crow Wing County exhibiting war bond sales totaling $935,000. War bond sales in Brainerd totaled $600,000.

Father was standing before the fire lecturing his son on the necessity for thinking twice before speaking once. "Father!" exclaimed the boy suddenly. The parent held up a warning finger. "Think again before you speak." The boy pondered for a minute and then said, "Father, I have thought twice and now I am quite convinced that your coat tails are on fire."

Chicken thieves made an entrance into John Congdon's hennery last night and four gentlemen hens were abstracted. It might be well to remind people to put a padlock on their hen houses.
