Charlie W. Zaleckis, 84, Brainerd, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Willow Springs, Ill., to Waytekus and Mary (Puksmis) Zaleckis. He married Friede Legg on Feb. 6, 1943, in South Sioux City, Neb. He was a resident of Brainerd since 1980. He lived in Lemon Grove, Calif., for 29 years, in San Diego for six years, and in Lemont, Ill, for 22 years. He was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees, a life member of Disabled Veterans, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was also active in Parent GPS in Lemon Grove.
Survivors include two sons, Charles D. Zaleckis, San Diego, and Dennis M. Zaleckis, Brainerd; a daughter, Annette M. Anderson, Spring Valley, Calif.; and a grandchild.
His wife, Friede, a brother, Ignac P. Zaleckis, and a sister, Adella Dominick, died earlier.
Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with the Rev. Bob Twiton officiating. Memorials are preferred to Disabled American Veterans.
