WADENA -- Dorothy Mae Kopveiler, 78, a former resident of the Verndale, Wadena and Frazee area, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at the Karlstad Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Bertha to Walter and Hazel (Shockley) Peterson. She married Reinhard T. Kopveiler on July 25, 1944, in Staples. They lived in Wadena for two years, then in Staples for two years, Wadena for six years and Frazee for 20 years. They then farmed north of Verndale for eight-and-a-half years until her husband's death in 1980. She moved to Verndale until Spring 1985 when she moved near Holma. She attended school in Verndale and was baptized in the Frazee Methodist Church.
Survivors include five children, Jeanne Wermager and Linda Kennedy, both of Buffalo, Judy Olson, Holma, Ricki Kopveiler, Little Falls, and LaDonna Sjodin, Merrifield; two brothers, Robert Peterson, Deerwood, and Darly Peterson, Brainerd; two sisters, Lucille Young, Mahtomedi, and Vivian Gibbs, Staples; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were today at the United Methodist Church in Verndale with the Rev. Clifford Mays officiating. Burial was in the Wadena Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena.
