Posted: Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Snow fell Monday in Brainerd, but unlike in the Twin Cities, it failed to stick around for long.

Areas around Minneapolis and St. Paul reported more than 4 inches of snow Monday morning, the National Weather Service in Duluth reported.

Fresh snow fell throughout the day Monday coating the colored leaves that lined the shore of the Gull River west of Baxter. Brainerd Dispatch/Steve Kohls » Purchase reprints of this photo.

Locally, the weather service listed reports of 2 inches of snow in Hackensack, 1.5 inches in Pequot Lakes, 1.4 inches near Gull Lake and an inch of snow near Nisswa and in Leader.

There's a 30 percent chance of precipitation Wednesday through Friday, with snow possible in the mornings followed by light rain or snow in the afternoons.

It could warm up for the weekend, with a high temp of 50 degrees forecast for Saturday and a high temp of 57 degrees forecast for Sunday.
