The Brainerd Family YMCA will hold a self defense seminar for women from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The seminar will give women practical advice regarding self-defense techniques plus hands-on experience in hapkido techniques. Participants will be shown basic techniques that involve joint locks, pressure points and takedowns.
These techniques help improve and develop coordination, strength and self-confidence.
Participants are asked to wear loose-fitting clothing and gym shoes. The program is designed for women age 16 and up.
The cost is $16 for YMCA members and $20 for community members. The instructor is Karmon Keppers. Call the YMCA at 829-4767 to register, or stop by and sign-up in person at 602 Oak St.
