There may be flurries Monday morning in Brainerd. And in areas to the south, the snowfall could add up a bit more.
The National Weather Service in Duluth on Sunday forecast 1-2 inches of snow for Mille Lacs, Morrison and Todd counties before 10 a.m. Monday - another sign of an early winter following Friday night's half-inch of snowfall in Brainerd.
"We don't know exactly how rare such a snowfall is but we were thinking it seems a bit early," said Dean Packingham, weather service meteorologist.
In Brainerd, there's a 20 percent to 30 percent chance of snow Monday.
"We're thinking a dusting but nothing major," Packingham said.
On Monday, the forecast calls for 1-3 inches of snow in St. Cloud and Minneapolis, 2-4 inches in Mankato and 3-5 inches in Fairmont and Albert Lea. A winter weather advisory has been issued for south central and east central Minnesota.
Tuesday's forecast in Brainerd calls for sunny skies and 44 degrees. On Wednesday and Thursday, there's a chance of rain and snow, and Packingham said he wouldn't be surprised to see it snow a couple of inches each of those days.
