Outside hitter Michelle Honek of Staples-Motley broke the Concordia Moorhead school record for digs in a career last week.
Honek, a senior, had 25 digs in the Cobbers' 3-0 victory over Augsburg, increasing her career total to 1,075.
Rutman sixth in Twin Cities Marathon age group
Peggy Rutman of Deerwood placed sixth in the age 55-59 division of the Twin Cities Marathon Sunday.
Rutman, 56, finished in 4:20.16.
Denise Kaiser, 60, Pine River, was 10th in the age 60-64 division with a time of 5:43.05.
CLC remains No. 2 in Division III volleyball poll
The top four teams remained the same in the NJCAA Division III volleyball poll Wednesday.
Ridgewater College (Willmar) is in first place for the fourth consecutive week. Remaining in second is Central Lakes College, followed by Brookhaven College (Farmers Branch, Texas).
Central Lakes improved to 17-5 with wins over Vermilion and Mesabi. The Raiders are led by Krista Meyer (2.6 kpg. 3.4 dpg), Lisa Kurtz (2.6 kpg, 5.3 assists pg, 0.6 aces pg), Rachel Voeltz (2.5 kpg, 0.9 bpg) and Jill Wizik (4.9 assists pg).
Elite league hockey games in Brainerd this weekend
Joe Frazer and Drew Olson of Brainerd and Ben Hanowski, Beau Hanowski and Izaak Berglund, all of Little Falls, will play for the North team when the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League plays six games at Brainerd Area Civic Center.
On Saturday, the North will play the Southwest team at 10 a.m., the Southeast team will play the Wisconsin team at 12:20 p.m., Wisconsin plays Southwest at 6 p.m. and the North plays Southeast at 8:20 p.m.
On Sunday, Southeast plays the Southwest at 10 a.m. and the North plays Wisconsin at 12:20 p.m.
Warrior girls seeded first in 8-2A soccer tournament
The Brainerd Warrior girls' soccer team has been seeded first in the Section 8-2A tournament and has earned a first-round bye.
Brainerd will host the No. 5 Moorhead/No. 4 Buffalo winner at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Southdale Field in Baxter in the semifinals.
Quarterfinal matchups Saturday, other than Moorhead at Buffalo, are No. 7 Bemidji at No. 2 Elk River and No. 6 St. Cloud Tech at No. 3 Alexandria.
The Elk River/Bemidji winner will play the Alexandria/Tech winner in the semifinals Tuesday at the high seed.
Championship game is Oct. 18 at the high seed.
Warrior JV swim team wins
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity swimming and diving team defeated St. Cloud Tech 109-77 Thursday.
Winning for Brainerd were Sara Bragg (200-yard freestyle), Grace Bymark (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly), Amanda Barthel (100 freestyle), Emilia Dellacecca (500 free), Molly Baker (100 backstroke), Nicole Meier (100 breaststroke) and the 200 medley relay of Molly Peltoma, Courtney Jindra, Bymark and Barthel.
