Brainerd blanks Willmar in regular-season finale

WILLMAR -- The Brainerd Warrior girls' soccer team finished another successful regular season Tuesday with a 2-0 Central Lakes Conference victory over the Willmar Cardinals.

Kelly Rosenthal and Megan Bates scored in the first half and Melissa Hanson had four saves in goal for the Warriors.

The Warriors finished the regular season 14-1-1 overall (excluding forfeits for using an ineligible player), 12-0-1 in conference play (excluding forfeits). Brainerd has lost only one conference game in two seasons.

Brainerd will play the Elk River-Buffalo winner in the Section 8, Class 2A semifinals 4 p.m. Tuesday at Southdale Field in Baxter.
