BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- Jake Moreland had 40 saves to lead St. Cloud State to 2-1 nonconference victory over Ferris State on Friday night.
All three goals were scored in the second period. St. Cloud State (1-0) scored first at 4:23 in the period.
Matt Gens assisted Ryan Malone to take the early 1-0 lead. But Ferris State (1-1) responded four minutes later when Jeff Legue got one past Moreland.
The Huskies pulled ahead at the end of the period on Matt Hendricks' goal.
Minn.-Duluth 2, Notre Dame 2
DULUTH (AP) -- Notre Dame's Yan Stastny scored with one minute remaining as the Fighting Irish tied Minnesota-Duluth 2-2 on Friday.
Neil Petric scored the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs (0-0-1). Jesse Unklesbay had the assist.
Tim Wallace evened the score midway through the first period on Tom Glavin's assist. The Bulldogs pulled ahead early in the second period.
Morgan Cey had 37 saves for Notre Dame (0-0-1), while Rob Anderson had 26 for Duluth.
The Fighting Irish hold a 16-9 lead in the all-time series.
North Dakota 8, Canisius 0
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Freshman Zach Parise scored three goals and added an assist as North Dakota beat Canisius 8-0 on Friday.
Parise got his first score at 9:36 of the first period, less than a minute after Andy Schneider put the team on the board.
In the second period, the Fighting Sioux outshot the Griffs 16-1. Quinn Fylling, who finished with a goal and two assists, scored at 4:33. Nick Fuher scored on a power play 10 minutes later.
Paris completed his hat trick in the third period. Ryan Hale and Brandon Bochenski each added a goal for North Dakota (1-0).
Bryan Worosz had 40 saves Canisius (0-1).
Jake Brandt stopped 18 shots in recording a shutout for the Fighting Sioux. David Lundbohm had three assists and Bochenski had two.
On Saturday in the Xerox Punch Imlach College Hockey Showcase, North Dakota faces Michigan, 3-0 winner over Niagara late Friday. Canisius plays Niagara in the consolation game Saturday.
Alaska Anchorage 4, Alaska Fairbanks 2
ANCHORAGE (AP) -- John Hopson scored a pair of first-period goals and Alaska Anchorage defeated Alaska Fairbanks 4-2 in nonconference collegiate hockey action.
The game Friday night was the season opener for both schools.
Hopson took a pass from behind the net and fired in a power play goal at 14:26, then scored again in front of the net at 17:20.
Billy Crumm answered for the Nanooks at 6:36 of the second period when he slid a rebound past goalie Kevin Reiter.
Just over a minute later, Alaska Fairbanks tied the score when Ryan Campbell backhanded a rebound at 7:47.
With the Seawolves on a power play, Morgan Roach broke the tie on a rebound at 15:35 of the third period. Joe Garvin added an insurance goal at 18:11.
