Quick and easy dishes are on the agenda for this week - recipes for times when the show must go on and you don't feel like cooking. Know what I mean?
Even the kids or the man of the house can make these recipes and give mom a break from the kitchen.
Deep Dish Pizza
1 pound hamburger
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can pizza sauce
Oregano, salt and pepper, to taste
1 tube biscuits
Mushrooms, green pepper, sliced olives
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Brown hamburger with onion. Add pizza sauce, oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Spread one tube biscuits in buttered pie pan. Put meat and pizza sauce mixture on top. Add sliced mushrooms, green pepper, olives or whatever you desire. Sprinkle two cups of shredded mozzarella cheese on top and bake at 350 degrees 20-25 minutes.
Dump Bars
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
5 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa
12 ounces chocolate chips
Dump all ingredients in a bowl except the chocolate chips and mix. Spread in a greased 9-by-13 inch pan. Sprinkle the chips over the batter and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.
Fall Cinnamon Apple Simmered Chops
4 boneless pork chops, 3/4-inch thick
Vegetable oil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 cups chunky applesauce heated with
2 tablespoons Cinnamon red hot candies
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Brush chops lightly with oil and brown chops on both sides, turning once, about three to four minutes. Sprinkle chops with pepper, add broth and lemon juice. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer gently for five minutes. To serve, top with applesauce and cinnamon candies.
In small saucepan, stir together 1 1/2 cups applesauce and 2 tablespoons candies. Heat over medium heat, stirring often, until candies are melted; stir well to thoroughly combine.
GARY'S TIP: Lime sediments on chrome faucets may be cleaned by using a paste made with vinegar and cream of tartar.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: In everything you do, put God first and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.
