NOTES: Years ago, Martinsville was known and the short track that thinks it's a superspeedway. Actually, it's like two drag strips joined by U-turns at both ends ... Although it's the smallest raceway on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, it's one of the toughest. Engines will turn 9,000 rpms at the end of the straightaways and the constant acceleration and stopping can wear out brakes. And if that wasn't enough, there isn't a lot of room to pass or avoid trouble. Every car is likely to have battle scars and several drivers are likely to be mad at each other.
