Doris G. Bloom, 76, Brainerd, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village.
She was born April 17, 1925, in Florence, S.D., to Otto and Gina (Gunvaldson) Ihlen. She graduated from Webster South Dakota High School in 1944 and Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1947. She married John A. Bloom in 1956. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Medical Center and Bethany Good Samaritan Village. She was a resident of the Lakes Country Apartments. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, former member of the Sons of Norway and a volunteer at Bethany Good Samaritan Village.
Survivors include a son, John Bloom, Farmington; a daughter, Mary Sundell, Franklin, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Gladys Dale, Stella Ihlen, Irene Hallstrom and Mildred Fiksdal.
Her husband and a brother, Clifford Ihlen, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Brainerd with Pastor Andy Smith and Pastor Lilja Behr officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Good Samaritan Village.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at Bethany chapel.
