Cards win battle of 6th-ranked teams

GLYNDON - In a matchup of teams that are ranked sixth in their respective classes, Class 3A's Staples-Motley Cardinals received two rushing touchdowns from quarterback Alex Jansson for a 20-7 victory over Class 2A's sixth-ranked Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels Friday.

With the victory, the 6-0 Cardinals claim the lead in the conference's South Division.

Blake Petrich scored on a 23-yard run in the first quarter. Jansson then scored on a 17-yard scamper and a 57-yard dash to give the Cardinals a 20-0 lead going into the half.

Jansson led the Cardinals with 90 yards on 15 carries. Petrich was next with 12 rushes for 73 yards.
