Historical society marks senior days

The Crow Wing County Historical Society will celebrate Senior Citizen Days for residents 55 years and up from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday at the museum.

Seniors may tour the restored sheriff's residence. Light refreshments will be served.

The city bus will operate free to the museum both days to the event with pickups between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. Thursday from Arbor Glen, Mississippi Terrace Apartments, North Star Apartments and Excelsior Place. Friday the bus will load between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. from Brainerd Manor, Lakes Country Apartments, Spruce Drive Apartments and Woodland Good Samaritan Apartments.

General election pre-registration deadline

Cass County Auditor-Treasurer Sharon K. Anderson reminds eligible voters that the deadline to pre-register for the Nov. 7 general election is Oct. 17.

Voters not registered by Oct. 17 may register at their polling place on Election Day.

Laurel Street paving to be finished by Saturday

Completion of final paving operations on Laurel Street is anticipated by Saturday, Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. reported.

Concrete crews will be working on sections of the Laurel Street bridge throughout the next two weeks. Landscaping crews also will be working on Laurel Street and Fourth Street Northwest this week.
