BROOTEN -- Amidst the clouds and the rain Tuesday, both the Pierz Pioneers boys' and the girls' cross country teams fell just short of catching Big Lake at the Central Minnesota Conference meet.
The boys' were paced by freshman Zach Solinger, who was the individual winner, came up 18 points shy.
The girls, who were led by sophomore Kaley Jensen, and eight-grader Jamie Talberg, finished 43 points behind Big Lake.
Solinger's time was 16:19 while Eli Solinger finished fourth with a time of 17:00.
