ST. PAUL (AP) -- A 15-year-old student at Central High School said she was raped by three fellow students during school hours.
Two of the students, ages 18 and 17, were being held in the Ramsey County jail and the county juvenile detention center. They were expected to be formally charged Tuesday with criminal sexual conduct.
Police were looking for the third young man, who was described as the lookout. "We know who he is, we just don't have him yet," police spokesman Michael Jordan said.
Police said the girl had been excused from class to go to the bathroom Friday afternoon when she was approached by three male students. They lured her upstairs to a room in the back of the auditorium, police said. At least one of the attackers had keys to the room because he worked there as part of a student job.
In response to the attack, school officials changed the locks in that part of the building.
The three alleged attackers have been suspended. A faculty committee will consider further disciplinary action.
Central's principal, Mary Mackbee, has mailed letters to parents and had counselors available to talk with students and families.
Su Yeager, a school spokeswoman, said more discussions about security changes are planned.
