Brainerd sweeps C-I Invite

DEERWOOD - Brainerd's Riley Nelson and Rebecca Yeh took individual honors as they led the Brainerd Warriors boys' and girls' to firsts in the Crosby-Ironton Invitational Thursday at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge.

Yeh led a contingency of Warriors as Brainerd placed six in the top seven runners. Anna Gessell finished second followed by Megan Holmes third, Michaela Quast fourth, Alli Reither sixth and Abby Selsiker seventh.

Brainerd had six boys finish in the top 14. Following Nelson were Jeff Emery fourth, Alek Rudstrom sixth and Jack Hegarty eighth.

Marie Abear took fifth for the second place Rangers followed by Lisa Borden eighth and Shelby Vukelich ninth. Colt Severson also took fifth leading the Ranger boys to third.

The Pequot Lakes boys finished second led by Silas Lydeen's second, Jake Braum's third, Jacob Headlee's seventh and Adison Runberg's ninth. The third-place Patriot girls were led by Jackie Brine-Doyle's 12th-place finish.

Top finishers for Pillager were Kayla Rardin in 13th and Matt Neururer in 21st.
