Jon Wefald, who has a home on Bay Lake and was the chancellor of the State University System in Minnesota from 1982-1986 and Minnesota Commissioner of Agriculture from 1971-1977, will be inducted into the Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame in Minot, N.D., today.
Wefald, currently president of Kansas State University, will be inducted along with the late jazz great Peggy Lee, the North Dakota-born singer who became one of America's top female singers in recent history, and Alf Engen, who is a 16-time U.S. Olympic ski champion.
