Cardinal swimmers fourth

STAPLES -- Sauk Centre won the Staples-Motley/Wadena-Deer Creek/Verndale swimming and diving invitational Saturday with 359.5 points.

The S-M/W-DC/V Cardinals placed fourth with 268 points.

"The kids continue to improve and I can't ask for anything more," said S-M/W-DC/V coach Bruce Onischuk.

Britta Binek of S-M/W-DC/V won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.95.

Teammate Abby Palmer won the 200 individual medley at 2:30.88 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.38.

In the 200 freestyle relay S-M/W-DC/V placed first by default because Minnewaska's third swimmer jumped.
