FERGUS FALLS -- The Central Lakes College Raiders football team was defeated 47-13 by the Fergus Falls Spartans in a South Division game Saturday.
After no scoring in the first quarter, Fergus Falls kicked its offense into high gear in the second, scoring four touchdowns on its way to a 26-0 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Spartans scored again on an 11-yard run. CLC answered with its first scoring play, a touchdown on an 87-yard kickoff return by Trevor Gross.
Fergus scored again to end the third and opened the fourth with another touchdown. Raider Phillip Rasset scored CLC's final touchdown on a 3-yard run with 3:17 left in the game. Andrew LaPlant's kicked the extra point.
"Fergus Falls' no-huddle offense dominated the game with 507 total yards," Raiders coach Mike Degen said. "With injuries to three of our defensive backs, Fergus Falls quickly took advantage. Our offense moved the ball well early but had some costly penalties for holding that held us up.
"We also turned the ball over six times, four times in the first half alone. It will be nice playing our last two games at home where we have played very well all year."
