Cynics have a field day with the fake punt. It's great when it succeeds, terrible when it doesn't. The Warriors succeeded for the second time this season, this one leading to a 65-yard touchdown run and a 34-15 homecoming win over Rocori.

Despite winning five of seven events, the Warrior boys' gymnastics team lost to Mounds View in a squeaker, 97.61 to 96.49. Tim Frazier won the floor exercise, vault and all-around, while Jeff Millam took the still rings and horizontal bar.
40 years ago (1969)
(Photo) Ray Netkow, Brainerd, caught a pair of northerns of almost identical size fishing at Gull Lake with a Johnson Silver Minnow. Each weighed 14-4 on the Nisswa Bait Shop scales where this photo was taken.
60 years ago (1949)
Brainerd's Warriors celebrated a chilly and damp high school homecoming with a 26-0 victory over the Detroit Lakes team. Brainerd's cause on the soggy, slippery field was aided by three Laker fumbles, all recovered by Brainerd.
80 years ago (1929)
The Independence, a tri-motored Ford airplane, owned by Reid Murdoch and Co. carried 1,000 copies of the Brainerd Daily Dispatch to Cuyuna Range towns of Crosby, Ironton and Riverton today. It was piloted by Crazy Johns, famous world war flier.
100 years ago (1909)
The Citizens State Bank has received the outfit for the new barber shop which is to be put into the room in the basement of the bank. It is the best three-chair outfit obtainable. It is not leased yet but there are several applications.
