Brainerd finishes regular season 12-1-4

SARTELL -- Brainerd's Sam Smith scored two goals in the first half and teammate Kelly Rosenthal added a goal in the second half in a 3-1 Warriors triumph over the Sartell Sabres in Central Lakes Conference play Thursday.

It was the final game of the regular season for Brainerd, which finished 12-1-4 overall and won the conference title with a 10-1-2 mark.

"We wanted to finish the regular season with an exclamation point instead of a period and some of our younger players really stepped up and played well," said Brainerd head coach Steve Kimble.

Assists went to Aani Rangen and Beth Sexton. Goalkeeper Melissa Hanson stopped 11 Sartell shots.
