Posted: Wednesday, October 08, 2003

PILLAGER -- A child passenger safety and car seat clinic will run 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Pillager Family Center.

Pre-registration is required.

Participants are asked to bring their children in the car seats they are currently using and the owner's manuals for the car seat and the car.

Statistics show 65 percent of child safety seats in use are being used incorrectly; 27 percent are being so grossly misused that they serve no safety function at all.

Six nurses at Lakewood Health System in Staples have taken training in child passenger safety. Traci Formanek, Kelly VanVickle and Anita McGrane each have taken four days of training. Angie Tumberg, Lila Granby and Danielle Dickey have had two days of training through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. They are available for information programs by calling (218) 894-0332.

For more information and to register call the Education/OH Department at (218) 894-0332.
