Michele Perez, 1811 South Seventh Street, Brainerd, is a candidate for homecoming queen at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.

30 years ago (1972)

Heavy enrollments in the seventh and eighth grades this year and a large Sixth grade are causing problems at the junior high level this year and will continue to do so until the enrollment bulge passes through.

40 years ago (1962)

The Crow Wing County Board of Commissioners set a county tax budget that totals approximately $1,379,247. Based on last year's assessed valuation this could mean an increase of 3.56 mills.

60 years ago (1942)

Whistles and bells will announce the opening of the scrap metal collection campaign in Brainerd at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

80 years ago (1922)

The blueprints came today for the new filling station which is proposed by E.C. Bane to be built at the corner of Laurel and 6th streets. Two spacious driveways have been incorporated in the plans so that the drivers will always face out and not have to back out.

100 years ago (1902)
