Beltz, Pequot boys, girls set pace

SEBEKA - Kylie Beltz finished first in the girls' race and Silas Lydeen was second in the boys' meet as they led the Pequot Lakes Patriots to titles on both sides of the United North Central Invite Tuesday.

Beltz finished in 16:59 and was followed by seventh-grade teammate Jackie Brine-Doyle. Also finishing in the top 10 for Pequot were Jordan Roy (6th), Sydney Johnson (7th) and Savannah Stone (8th)

Bryon Schuldt of Nevis won the boys' meet followed by Lydeen's 17:39. The Patriots dominated with seven of the top 14 finishers. Joining Lydeen in the top 10 were Jake Braam (5th), Adison Runberg (7th) and Jacob Headlee (8th).

Eighth-grader Sara Neururer led the Pillager girls with a third-place finish followed by Shauna Maurer (5th) and Kayla Rardin (10th). Matt Neururer was the top finisher for the Pillager boys in 17th place.

Ninth place Travis Wheeler was the top finisher for the Pine River-Backus boys while Kira Taylor finished 13th for the PR-B girls.
