(Photo) Sara Dunlap has been named as the 1989 Citizen of the Year for her contributions to the community. She is the volunteer coordinator at St. Joseph's Medical Center and has been a volunteer herself in the 20 years since she moved here in 1969.

(Photo) Baxter Police Chief Jim Fredstrom inspects $7,000 worth of welding equipment recently found hidden in woods in Baxter. The equipment was stolen last month in Breckenridge and was found here due to a tip from a local resident.

Last night the Brainerd City Council ordered the Front Street parking lot to be constructed, heard a report that an Army Reserve Armory is going to be built and placed the Sunday liquor issue back on the ballot for the third time.

The sale of the Sun Valley Lodge and Resort to the Arthur L. Roberts Hotel company was announced by John and Zelda Ylinen, former owners. The resort consisted of the lodge, seven cabins and 96 acres of land at the south end of Gull Lake.

Indictments charging out three John Doe warrants will be returned by the grand jury called especially for that purpose. Though more than a month has passed since the robbery of a Pequot bank of $9,000 there are few clues as to the bandit trio.
100 years ago (1909)
Unless the balloon Centennial, last reported in Alabama, 400 miles from St. Louis, has traveled more than 530 miles, the balloon St. Louis No. 3 will win the Great St. Louis Balloon Race. It landed at Wahkon on the shores of Mille Lacs, traveling 530 miles.
