COLLEGEVILLE - The Staples-Motley Cardinals notched two more wins to their season as they eliminated Wadena-Deer Creek 6-1 and Sauk Centre 7-0 Monday in the West Subsection 6-1A girls' tennis tournament at St. John's University.
The Cardinals won all eight singles matches to advance to face Osakis in the Section final.

Pequot Lakes 6, Pine City 1
SARTELL - Jasmine Nordby dropped just one game for her No. 4 singles victory to help the Pequot Lakes Patriots eliminate Pine City 6-1 in the first round of the Subsection 2, Section 7-1A girls' team tennis playoffs.
The Patriots swept the doubles to improve to 17-4 and advance to the Section 7-1A semifinals.
"Last time we played Pine City we won a close 4-3 game," said Pequot head coach Monica Sergent. "Today was a great improvement. We just want to carry that momentum through the tournament."

PIERZ - The No. 2 doubles team of Kayla Kapsner-Mary Waytashek battled back from a 2-5 third-set deficit to win their match 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 and lead the Pierz Pioneers past the Foley Falcons 4-3 Monday in the first-round of the Subsection 2, Section 7-1A team tennis playoffs.
Pierz swept the double and picked up a No. 2 singles victory from Rochelle Langer to advance to the section tournament.
