Back on stage
On Stage Community Theatre follows the successful "Annie" and the hit-and-miss "Grease" with its third annual outing, "The Sound of Music." Director Mike Lundin promises the musical will adhere closely to the beloved movie. The play will be staged 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the Franklin Junior High School auditorium in Brainerd. Tickets are $8 (adults), $5 (12 and under) and $10 (reserved).
Get a 'Life'
ABC channels the ghosts of "My So-Called Life," "Dawson's Creek" and "Freaks and Geeks" in a new teen drama starring a guy that looks like Tom Cruise, one of Ozzy Osbourne's kids and a bunch of actors you've never heard of. Nonetheless, "Life as We Know It" might be worth getting to know better. It premieres at 8 p.m. Thursday.
"Taxi," "Friday Night Lights" and "Raise Your Voice" open Friday at Movies 10 at Westgate.
Legacy lives on
The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota opens its season with the fund-raiser "Autumn in New York: Favorites from Broadway and the Met" 6 p.m. Friday at the Cragun's Legacy Clubhouse main dining room in East Gull Lake. Tickets are $55.
Twin Cities veteran Alex Cole runs through four decades of crowd-pleasing anecdotal humor at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Scott Hansen's Comedy Gallery at The Rail in Brainerd. Tickets are $10, but you can get in for $5 if you bring a ticket stub from a previous show.
Cue the orchestra

Martin Auditorium, Little Falls High School, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Middle School, in Brainerd. Season tickets are $20 (adults), $30 (adult pairs), $35 (families) and $12 (seniors and students).
