COON RAPIDS (AP) -- The bacterium that causes Legionnaire's disease was found in the body of a patient who died at a hospital in this northern Twin Cities suburb, and could have caused that person's death, state health officials said.
Mercy Hospital disinfected its water lines with chlorine after the patient died in September, possibly because the person contracted Legionnaire's there.
State health officials said Friday that it appears to be an isolated incident, and that there is no public health threat.
Assistant state epidemiologist Richard Danila said the hospital is taking appropriate steps to prevent further infections.
