Douglas Lee Moe, age 81, resident of Fort Ripley, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Heritage House of Pequot Lakes. Douglas was born April 23, 1928, in Maple Plain to Stanley and Esther (Anderson) Moe. He married Lois Stauffenecker Aug. 26, 1950, in Ronneby, Minn. They farmed and operated a dairy farm in Maple Plain and Pierz before moving to Fort Ripley. Douglas was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. He enjoyed farming, over the road trucking, deer hunting and ice fishing. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Survivors include son, Vincent (Debra) Moe, of Fort Ripley, grandchildren, Andy, Ashley, and Brandon; daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Donat of Kallispell, Mont., grandchildren, Carrie (Pat) Conners, great-grandson, Aaron Conners, and granddaughter, Amy; daughter, Kathryn (Loren) Edelman, of Fort Ripley, grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad and Tyler; son, Steven (Becky) Moe, of Fort Ripley, grandchildren, Amanda, Austin, Alicia and Athena; daughter, Doreen Moe, of Little Falls; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Moe; and sister, Evelyn Moe.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Rev. Kristin Oltmann officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and continue at the church the hour before services on Thursday.
