Olson fourth in Twin Cities Marathon

Former Wadena-Deer Creek High school runner Johanna Olson qualified for her second Olympic Trials marathon Sunday at the Twin Cities Marathon.

Olson's time of 2:44:09 met the B qualifying standard for the 2008 Olympic Trials.

This year's Twin Cities Marathon also served as the national championships. Olson's fifth place was her best post collegiate national finish.

Entering the race Olson had the 11th-best time. Her fifth-place prize money was $7,000, her highest to date.

Olson finished ahead of 1984 Olympic Gold medalist Joan Benoit-Samuelson.

Warrior bowlers split

The Brainerd Warriors bowling team defeated St. Cloud Cathedral 5-0 and lost to St. Cloud Tech 3-2 Saturday at Great River Bowl.

Brent Zinda, Nick Dally and Nick Schueller led the Warriors against Cathedral with 90 percent fills.

Against Tech, Zinda, Kim Carper and Schueller led Brainerd with 90, 83, and 80 percent fills.

The Warriors had a 234 high game and averaged 188 for 10 games.

Brainerd is at home 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Paul Bunyan Bowl. The Warriors bowl Sauk Rapids and will have a position round.
