The Brainerd Warriors clinched no less than a share of their second straight Central Lakes Conference girls' soccer title Monday night at Alexandria with a 1-0 victory over the Cardinals.
Brainerd, which has three conference games remaining, can win the conference championship outright with a victory at Sauk Rapids Tuesday.
"The girls are awfully proud of their accomplishment, and they should be," Warriors coach Steve Kimble said.
Kelly Rosenthal scored the game's only goal, with an assist from defender Sarah Eiesland.
"Sarah Eiesland put a nice flighted ball over what was their holding line," Kimble said. "It dropped at an angle in front of Kelly, she ran into it and buried it in the far corner. It was a great run and finish by Kelly."
Kimble commended the defensive play of Eiesland, Kristi Ericksen and Jessica Bye, who helped limit the Cardinals to three shots on goalkeeper Melissa Hanson.
"Sarah played one of the best games I've seen her play in her career," he said.
"It was back and forth," Kimble added. "Alex is a great team. It's always a barn-burner when we go to Alex and play under the lights.
"Our defense was just dynamite. Our team shape and team play was fantastic. We don't seem to score a ton, but we owned possession of the ball the majority of the game."
