The Brainerd Fire Department will host its annual open house 5-8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Brainerd Fire Hall, 23 Laurel St.
There will be several new displays and activities for children this year, the fire department reported, as well as regular displays from area law enforcement agencies, North Ambulance, Smokey Bear, Fire Pup and utility companies.
The open house is being held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week. This year's national theme addresses safe use of candles.
