PINE RIVER -- Garrett Anderson finished first with a time of 17:11 to lead the Pine River-Backus Tigers to a first-place finish with 30 points at the Pine River-Backus Invitational on Tuesday.
Travis Bristow of PR-B finished fourth with a time of 18:05, Micah Johnson placed sixth in 18:38 and Lee Swanson was eighth in 18:55.
Pequot Lakes was led individually by David Schwen who finished second with a time of 17:28 and Josh Dale placed 13th in 20:13.
The PR-B girls finished second with 61 points and were led by Katie Lupella who was sixth with a time of 18:57, Brittany Johnson placed tenth with a time of 19:39.

W-DC boys 2nd
SAUK CENTRE -- The Wadena Deer-Creek Wolverines' cross country boys' team finished second behind Paynesville, the No. 2-ranked team in state, Tuesday at the Sauk Centre Invitational.
W-DC was led by its No. 2-ranked runner in state Adam Asfeld, who finished with a time of 16:08. "Adam had his fifth win of the season. In the third mile he just dominated, " said Wolverines coach Terry Olson.
The Wadena Deer-Creek girls finished third with a score of 73 and were led by Kourtney Anderson who finished ninth.
"Kourtney Anderson ran very well for us," said Olson.
The Staples-Motley Cardinals' boys team finished in seventh place with a score of 161 and were led by Sam Hubsch with a time of 18:08.
The Cardinals' girls team finished sixth with a score of 151 and were led by Ashley Jordan with a time of 17:00.
