HACKENSACK -- Get reservations in early for the Saturday, Oct. 28, Halloween Trick or Treat Compass Hunt at Deep Portage Conservation Reserve. Call 682-2325.
This program has been a favorite for many years at Deep Portage. Participants learn the basic compass skills and then head out to the woods to find the marker for their treat. Reservations are needed for this program so there are plenty of treats.
Children wear costumes, and those under 8 should have an adult to help them.
The first year of the program the treats were hidden in the woods. By the time the participants got to the compass point, friendly critters had already eaten the treats. Now, the goblins look for the markers and come back to the building to get their treats.
Learn to weave snowshoes at a program from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Deep Portage. Call the reserve for more information.
