BHS swamps Willmar

Destiney Schindele and Siri Smith combined for six first-place finishes in the Brainerd Warriors 103-83 victory over Willmar in Central Lakes Conference swimming and diving Thursday.

"This was a great win for us," Warriors coach Dan Anderson said. "Willmar swam well and gave us all we could handle."

Smith and Schindele were on the first-place 200 medley and 400 free relays. Ronia Gramer and Alex Erickson were also on the 200 medley relay. Laura Goll and Nikki Hansen were on the 400 free relay.

Schindele took first in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

"Destiney had an outstanding meet," Anderson said. "When she defeated Willmar's Sarah Hurd in the 50 free that was a huge turning point in the meet. Her time of 55.29 (in the 100 free) is outstanding for this point in our season."

Smith took first in the 200 individual medley as well as first in the 100 backstroke.

"Siri won two big races for us and Sarah Dens also swam very well even though she was feeling sick," Anderson said.

Other Brainerd winners were Sam Smith in diving and Erickson in the 100 butterfly.
