The deadline to apply to a one-year appointment to the Brainerd School Board is noon Friday.
Interested and qualified school district residents may drop off a letter of intent and a resume at the district office by noon Friday at Washington Educational Services Building, 804 Oak St., Brainerd.
Applicants must be at least 21 and a resident of the school district and meet other eligibility requirements. The person selected will be subject to a background check before being appointed by the board.
The appointment is for a one-year term and then this position will be up for election for a special two-year term next fall.
This seat was previously occupied by longtime board member Ruth Gmeinder, who resigned last month.
The board will meet in a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. Monday to review the applications and narrow the list. Finalists will be called for individual interviews scheduled to take place 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
The board will then meet after its last interview and possibly select its newest board member. If this occurs, the new board member will be installed at the regularly scheduled Oct. 13 board meeting.
All of these special board meetings, including the interviews, are open to the public.
