Lenora E. Kuehne

BURTRUM -- Lenora E. Kuehne, 76, rural Burtrum, died Sunday, Oct. 1, at Long Prairie Hospital.

She was born April 2, 1924, in Round Prairie Township to Ernest and Emilie (Schmidt) Asmus. She went to school at Greenwood country school and Long Prairie High School. She married Herman H. Kuehne on Sept. 5, 1943, in Long Prairie. They farmed until 1979, when they retired and built a home on one and a half acres from the farm. She spent many years teaching Sunday school release time and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Fellowship Club and the Swanville Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Thomas Kuehne, Swanville, and Gordon Kuehne, Austin; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Alsleben, Alexandria, and Wilma Schwanke, Grey Eagle; and three brothers, Melvin Asmus, Grey Eagle, Verold Asmus, Grey Eagle, and Ervin Asmus, Long Prairie.

A brother, Arden Asmus, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville with the Rev. John Grein officiating. Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Shelley-Gibson Funeral Chapel of Swanville.
