20 years ago (1987)

Gale winds accompanying what was called an "Alberta Clipper" storm came roaring out of Canada felling trees etc. Numerous power outages were reported. Temperatures were around the freezing mark.

30 years ago (1977)

Tourism and farming in our area have something in common. In each case, the number of individual units is decreasing while production is increasing.

40 years ago (1967)

The Brainerd City Council voted to continue with Laurel Street as a one-way route from Sixth to Eighth and orders that parking meters be re-established.

60 years ago (1947)

Taxation on city property for 1947 for financing of city government for year 1948 was hiked on the basis of a 24 mill levy, a marked rise of 7,381.96 over the 1946 levy.

80 years ago (1927)

Handling a line of quality meats, Owen Peaslee opened the doors of his new meat market at 715 Laurel St. to the public this morning. The store is known as the Sanitary Meat Market.

100 years ago (1907)

The second floor of the Columbian block is to be remodeled at once. It will be transformed into five suites of flats with all modern improvements.
