Local residents will join some 100,000 people across the U.S. in learning about renewable energy and energy efficiency. Amid rising energy costs and concerns about climate change, the National Solar Tour invites participants to see how neighbors are saving money on utility bills, protecting the environment and reducing energy demand by using clean sources of energy.
The tour is sponsored locally by the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society and the local chapter of ASES.
The tour features homes, businesses and organizations that have incorporated renewable energy into building design and operation. Solar technologies including solar thermal, solar photovoltaic and passive solar will be showcased, as well as other renewable energy technologies like geothermal heat pumps and wind turbines.
