20 years ago (1983)

Stanley Eisel combined the old and the new, using 'Jim' and 'Minnie', a team of Belgians, to haul a modern gravity box full of freshly picked corn off a field he rents. The horses allowed Eisel to pull the heavy wagon through soggy fields.

30 years ago (1973)

A service of dedication is planned Sunday at the New Assemblies of God Church on Highway 371. The new church property is valued at $500,000 with the building seating 450 persons plus overflow in the balcony.

40 years ago (1963)

Tyra Parson was crowned Brainerd Homecoming Queen. The dark-haired senior is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester B. Parson, Route 3. The Brainerd Warriors will tangle with Little Falls in the homecoming game.

60 years ago (1943)

Friday night is Homecoming at Brainerd High School. The Warriors meet their much disputed rival, Crosby-Ironton. The two teams are about even on paper, but the Warriors have an edge because of their weight.

80 years ago (1923)

See Robin Hood for $10. Special school kids matinee at the new park tomorrow at 4:15. All kids under 12 years $.10.

100 years ago (1903)

"If there's one thing I hate," declared the passenger who had trouble with the conductor, "It's to be contradicted."

"Well," replied the man who shared his seat, "I like to have people talk back to me."

"You do?"

"Yes, I'm an auctioneer."
