Dan Ebert of Lakeshore swept the Grand Rapids Speedway special Thunder in the Pines races last weekend. Ebert won his qualifying heat race, the dash for cash and the feature. He's sitting fourth nationally and third in state points.

JV boys' soccer loses

Alexandria defeated the Brainerd Warriors 4-0 in junior varsity boys' soccer Tuesday. Brainerd keeper Matt Benson stopped four shots in the first half. Thor Linnerooth saved two shots in the second.

Sophomore football wins

The Brainerd Warrior sophomore football team defeated Moorhead 36-20 last Thursday.

Brainerd fell behind 14-0, then rattled off 36 unanswered points. The offense was led by Mitch McLain's 50-yard TD run and his 41-yard TD pass to Dustin Borlaug. Matt Pohlkamp added TD runs of 6 and 48 yards, while Nick Welch added a 32-yard scamper, plus a 2-point conversion run. Austin Anderson caught a 2-point conversion pass, while McLain rushed for the other conversion.

Brainerd's defense, led by Logan McAllister, Mike Davis and Jacob Goodew, shut out the Spuds after the first quarter.

Stolski to speak to boosters club

Brainerd Warriors football coach Ron Stolski will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
