The Brainerd Dispatch, along with Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, are teaming together to spotlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The Dispatch will print part of its Oct. 16 edition on pink paper and invited everyone to join in the effort to paint the town pink.
A pink ribbon insert can be found in the Dispatch Thursday and Oct. 11 for people to post in their windows in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
All donors of $5 or more to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Brainerd Lakes Affiliate before Oct. 16 will receive a pink ribbon to wear and will have their names published in a list of donors in the Friday pink edition.
Donate anytime between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the Dispatch office, 506 James St., Brainerd.
The Dispatch also is selling Think Pink black sweatshirts and pink T-shirts with all proceeds going toward Susan G. Komen for the Cure Brainerd Lakes Affiliate. Sweatshirts cost $30 while T-shirts are $10.
Riverwood Healthcare Center will host a free seminar on wellness and breast health from 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 20 at the 40 Club Convention Center, Aitkin. For more information, visit riverwoodhealthcare.com.
The mobile mammogram unit, offering free mammograms, will be in Brainerd in November. Details will be available in the Oct. 16 issue of the Dispatch.
A pink ribbon also will be found around the historic Brainerd water tower, although the date for this is not yet determined.
