Crash claims life of McGregor woman

McGREGOR - A 31-year-old McGregor woman died after the vehicle she was a passenger in left the roadway and struck a tree about 2:30 a.m. Monday on Aitkin County Road 36 in Turner Township north of McGregor, the Aitkin County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday.

Emma L. Skinaway was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Orlando T. Fineday, 25, Duluth, and another passenger, Julie F. Skinaway, 32, McGregor, were initially transported to Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin and then transferred to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Information on their conditions was unavailable Monday.

The Aitkin County Sheriff's Department reported alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Assisting were McGregor Ambulance, North Ambulance and the McGregor Fire Department.
