The 1973 Crosby-Ironton football team, which finished 10-0 and was named the mythical state champion by the St. Paul Pioneer Press, will be honored at the Rangers' homecoming game against Two Harbors 7 p.m. Friday at John Davies Field.
Events include a community tailgate party from 4:30-6:30 p.m. between the football field and school and an introduction of the 1973 team prior to kickoff.
A C-I Sports Boosters membership rally and reception is scheduled following the game at Gary's Sports Bar and Grill in Ironton.
Stolski to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warriors football coach Ron Stolski will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins noon Thursday at the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen located at 923 Oak St. behind the Triangle Store and Temple Baptist Church.
Football player Nate Lucas, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
JV boys' soccer team blanks Apollo
The Brainerd Warrior boys' junior varsity soccer team nipped St. Cloud Apollo 1-0 Monday.
Tim Halvorson made 16 saves. Defenders Andrew Mehr, Andrew Campbell, Scott Meyer and Mike McColgan were singled out for their play.
Brainerd scored in the first half on a pass from Andy Bartel that was misplayed by the goalie and put in by Jason Thompson.
The Warriors (5-6-1) won their fourth straight game.
