Brainerd boys 12th, girls 32nd

MINNEAPOLIS -- In one of the biggest cross country meets in Minnesota, the Brainerd boys' team placed 12th while the Warrior girls' team finished 32nd Saturday at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational.

Wadena-Deer Creek's boys' team placed 47th, and the Wolverines' girls' team was 38th.

The Warrior boys finished behind four out of state teams, and six other ranked Minnesota teams in what coach Dave Herath called "some of the best competition we've faced."

Leading the Warriors again was Justin Grunewald, who completed the course in a time of 16:31 for 17th place. The boys' race consisted of 48 teams and more than 400 runners.

The Warrior girls placed 32nd with 786 points. Leading Brainerd was Erin Holznagel, who finished the course in 22:00.
