PIERZ -- Rosena Christine Carolina Goergen, 97, Pierz, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Pierz Villa.
She was born June 23, 1904, in Wabasha County to Jacob and Mary (Heitman) Buck. She attended school in the Lake City area. After her schooling, she worked as a waitress at Bayer's Cafe in Lake City. She married Raymond Goergen on Feb. 4, 1924, in Lake City. They lived on a farm west of Pierz where her husband farmed with his grandfather for a few years. They purchased a farm north of Pierz and farmed until the late 1940s. She helped her husband with the bookkeeping for the Pierz Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. After her husband died, she continued living on the farm until 1997 when she moved to the Harmony House in Pierz. From 1987-1997, she spent the winters in North Carolina and Florida with her daughter, Elaine.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Dorsett, Efland, N.C.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband; a daughter, Yvonne Hoheisel; three brothers; and three sisters died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pierz.
Friends may call an hour before services Tuesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz.
